Rated, Not Reviewed (3)
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 3.5 stars
Not stellar, but a step up from the first book, in my opinion.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My goodness. This was excellent. So much insight into Levana's life and motivations.
View all my reviews Water Walker by Ted Dekker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This story of the kidnapping of orphan Alice Ringwald was just as intriguing, insightful, and weird(you gotta admit) as any of Dekker's work.
View all my reviews The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a new favorite of mine. I know many people couldn't get into it, but I loved the concept of the races! And the writing!
The Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
This was okay. The writing wasn't stellar, and the story wasn't captivating, but it was sweet.
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas DID NOT FINISH
My status updates on Goodreads went something like this....
*yawns*
*sighs*
*bangs head against table*
*throws book against wall*
Okay. What Stiefvater book should I read next?

I really enjoyed reading Fairest, too! Looks like you've had a decent book haul lately, and I hope your next reads get better!
ReplyDeletePretty decent, yes! Thanks, Heather!
DeleteOh, I loved The Scorpio Races too! It did take some time to get into, but it was worth every second. The horses were amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know! It's one I'll probably reread.

ReplyDeleteYES. YOU READ WATER WALKER!!! I ADORE THAT BOOK. I ADORE THAT SERIES. I MIGHT ADORE TED DEKKER.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just got Hacker at the library (no idea when I'll read it, but at least it's on the shelf).

I adore Ted Dekker too! Oooh, I must read Hacker!
DeleteI wasn't that thrilled with Throne of Glass, but I've been told the second book is better. If the third book stinks, though, I'm not sure I want to bother continuing with the series!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to read The Scorpio Races. Most of the reviews I've read of that book are pretty positive. It has a really intriguing premise!
Yeah, I don't know what to tell you about that series. Although, if TOG didn't thrill you, my guess is you wouldn't much like the rest of the series. But I highly recommend The Scorpio Races!
DeleteOhhh. So Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire aren't that good? Like the above commenter, I also heard the later books were better, but I've never found ToG particularly appealing and so never read it ... maybe I'll stay off the bandwagon still.
ReplyDeleteI started reading the Amazon sample on Scorpio Races but just didn't get into it! Maybe I'll give it another try. *nodnod*
They weren't great, but then again, that's just my opinion. I say, stay strong!!
DeleteYou didn't finish Heir of Fire? But...but the hype. . . *bangs head on the wall* I haven't read the series yet, so I actually don't know what to say, but a lot of people are crazy over these books.
ReplyDeleteI should probably also do something like this for all the books I've read but not reviewed. But eh, maybe someday. Nice idea, Ally! :)

I knowww, I'm weird. Don't get me wrong, the first two books were actually pretty good, in my opinion, but I still don't understand the hype.
DeleteThanks, Julie!
Good, because I think I want to read The Raven Cycle next! I've heard so many awesome things!
